Coffee and networking 8:00 am - 9:00 am PT
The relationship between an HR leader and the Board of Directors can help make or break the people strategy - and the business strategy - of any organization. In this session we will examine what Boards want from heads of HR, what heads of HR might ask of their Boards, and hallmarks of successful relationships between them.
With both HR leaders and members of their Boards leading the discussion, we will consider questions such as:
- What do Board members want from HR, today and tomorrow?
- What does an excellent partnership between the Board and the head of HR look like?
- How can HR leaders expand the traditional board/Compensation Committee scope to include broader Talent/Human Capital Management topics, and get their Board to focus on people strategy issues to deliver business results?
- What should be the dynamic between the head of HR and the Board when there needs to be changes at the CEO or executive team level?
- What might a head of HR do to translate what they see in modern employee expectations to Board members of a different workplace generation? (e.g. in-person work demands)
- How does a head of HR navigate the dual loyalties to CEO and also the Board?
